The August issue of Shogakukan’s Ciao magazine has confirmed that Nao Maita’s ongoing series Shining! is nearing its conclusion. The story, which follows an ordinary elementary student named Nene and her life-changing encounter with a famous actor named Taki, will wrap up in two additional chapters.
Since its debut in July 2023, the series has maintained a steady release schedule within the pages of the shojo publication. Shogakukan has been proactive in collecting the chapters, having released the eighth volume in April and with the ninth volume scheduled to hit shelves on July 24.
Maita is a staple of the Ciao lineup, perhaps best known for her award-winning series Age 12 (12-Sai.), which secured the Best Children's Manga prize at the 64th Shogakukan Manga Awards. That series went on to spawn a 2016 television anime adaptation and multiple OVAs. With the conclusion of Shining!, readers will be looking to see what project the prolific artist tackles next.
