The upcoming live-action adaptation of Nanji, Hoshi no Gotoku (You Are Akin to the Stars) has unveiled its second trailer, offering a first listen to the film's theme song, "Yūzutsu" (Evening Star), by the acclaimed rock band RADWIMPS. The footage builds on the emotional core of Yuu Nagira’s celebrated novel, which follows the complex 15-year relationship between Akimi and Kai, two individuals bound by their shared struggles with dysfunctional families.
Alongside the musical reveal, the production team shared a new poster visual confirming several high-profile additions to the cast. Joining leads Ryūsei Yokohama and Suzu Hirose are Hokuto Matsumura, Anne Nakamura, Gaku Hamada, Machiko Ono, Yoshino Kimura, Yuriko Ishida, and Hiroki Hasegawa. This ensemble cast supports a narrative that explores themes of codependency and resilience, set against the backdrop of the Seto Inland Sea.
Directed by Michihito Fujii, known for his work on Last Samurai Standing, the film adapts the 2022 Honya Taishō-winning novel. The project is set to hit Japanese theaters on October 9. With the source material already having spawned a recently concluded manga adaptation by Kou Furusato, anticipation remains high for this cinematic take on Nagira’s acclaimed storytelling.
