The television anime adaptation of Otsuji's manga My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked has revealed two additional cast members. Hiroki Tōchi will voice Ueki, the gardener for the Kōzō family, while Eiko Yamada has been cast as Yasu Nakamura, Miya's maternal grandmother.
The series is set to premiere on July 8, airing on TV Kanagawa, TV Saitama, Chiba TV, MBS, Tokyo MX, and BS Asahi. Japanese streaming will begin simultaneously on U-NEXT, Anime Hōdai, and Anime Times, with wider availability a week later.
Directed by Keisuke Inoue at Studio NEWON, the anime features character designs by Mutsumi Sasaki. Nanami Hoshino is handling series scripts. The main cast includes Hina Suzuki as Miya Nakamura, Kujira as Teru Kōnokura, Yū Serizawa as Marika Kōnokura, and Yuka Nukui as Arisa Kōnokura.
My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked adapts Otsuji's comedy manga, which reimagines Cinderella tropes. The story follows Miya, an illegitimate child who expects mistreatment from her new stepfamily but instead finds them unexpectedly kind. Seven Seas publishes the manga in English, with the eighth volume released recently and the ninth volume of the original Japanese release available since February.
