Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Rise has officially crossed the 20 million units sold threshold worldwide. The milestone underscores the long-term commercial success of the title, which first debuted on the Nintendo Switch in March 2021 before rolling out to PC via Steam in early 2022. A broader console release followed in January 2023, bringing the hunt to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, alongside availability on Xbox Game Pass.
The game's longevity was bolstered by the release of the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion. That content arrived on Switch and PC in June 2022, with a subsequent console launch in April 2023, providing a significant content cycle that helped sustain player engagement across its multi-platform release strategy.
This sales achievement arrives as the franchise maintains high momentum with its latest installment, Monster Hunter Wilds. That title saw a rapid adoption rate, hitting 8 million units sold within its first three days of release in February 2025 and reaching 10 million copies by March 2025. With the Ascendance expansion slated for 2027 and a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Wilds arriving this December, Capcom continues to leverage the series' strong performance to anchor its current release schedule.
