During the gamescom Opening Night Live presentation, Capcom pulled back the curtain on Monster Hunter Outlanders, a sprawling open-world survival entry designed specifically for mobile devices. The reveal trailer highlighted a brand-new threat to the franchise: the Elder Dragon known as Ruger Aidal. This addition promises to bring high-stakes combat to the portable format when the game launches in 2026.

Developed by Tencent’s TiMi Studio Group—the team behind Call of Duty Mobile and Pokémon Unite—this title aims to translate the core loop of the mainline action series into a survival-focused experience. The gameplay will feature a unique system allowing players to swap between different characters on the fly, adding a layer of tactical flexibility to the multiplayer-centric design. Franchise composer Tadayoshi Makino is returning to lead the musical score, ensuring the series' signature auditory intensity remains intact.

This project continues Capcom’s aggressive expansion of the Monster Hunter brand across mobile and console hardware. While Monster Hunter Now remains the franchise's primary foray into augmented reality, Outlanders represents a shift toward more traditional, large-scale open-world exploration on handhelds. With pre-registration now open, the developer is positioning the game as a significant 2026 milestone for the series.
