Monochrome Corp. and Good Smile Company have unveiled Ignisphere, a new mixed-media project that will span multiple formats. The announcement was accompanied by a teaser trailer showcasing the aesthetic direction of the franchise and introducing the first major entry: an action RPG titled Dawngazer.

Development for the game is being led by director and character designer Takafumi Noma, known for his work on the tactical RPG Unicorn Overlord. The project is currently in production at Ignisphere Studio, with Good Smile Company slated to handle both publishing duties and the franchise's merchandising. The musical score for the teaser was composed and arranged by Yoshimi Kudō, featuring vocal contributions from KOCHO, SAK., and Maki Takimoto, alongside cello arrangements by Wataru Mukai.

Dawngazer is scheduled for a 2028 launch across PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, and the Nintendo Switch 2. The release will support Japanese, English, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese. Beyond the game, the Ignisphere IP is set to expand into literature, with multiple light novel projects already in development under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint.

Why it matters: The involvement of Takafumi Noma represents a creative pivot following the 2024 release of Unicorn Overlord. While the core team's pedigree is established, the 2028 release window leaves a long wait to see how the studio translates its signature style into this new action-oriented setting.
