Miko Yasu is expanding her historical comedy manga DanDon with a new spinoff titled SagaDon. The five-chapter series is set to debut in Kodansha's Morning magazine on May 14.

DanDon itself delves into the end of the Edo period, focusing on Kawaji Toshiyoshi, often called the Father of the Japanese Police. The narrative follows a former samurai navigating the shadowy underworld and engaging in information warfare for a greater cause. Yasu launched the original DanDon series in Morning magazine in June 2023, with its 11th compiled volume scheduled for release on May 26.

This new venture comes from the creator of the highly successful Police in a Pod (Hakozume: Kōban Joshi no Gyakushū) manga. Police in a Pod, which concluded its first part in June 2022, garnered significant acclaim, winning both the 66th Shogakukan Manga Awards and the 46th Annual Kodansha Manga Awards in the General Manga category. The series boasts over 5 million copies in circulation and inspired a January 2022 TV anime series streamed by Funimation, as well as a live-action drama in 2021.
