The upcoming anime adaptation of Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The Dungeoneering Feats of a Discarded Vampire Aristocrat has officially entered production, with a television broadcast confirmed for January 2027. A newly released promotional video offers a first look at the series, showcasing the protagonist, Mercedes Grunewald, who will be voiced by Anna Nagase.
Studio Teddy is spearheading the project, with veteran director Kunihisa Sugishima—known for his work on Strike Witches and Yu-Gi-Oh!—at the helm. The production team also features Jun Kumagai handling series composition, while Nami Shōyama is tasked with character design. The series' musical score is being crafted by the collaborative duo of R.O.N and Shūhei Mutsuki, both of whom bring extensive experience from popular titles like Lycoris Recoil and Kuroko's Basketball.
Based on the light novel series by Fire head, the story follows a young girl reincarnated into a vampire noble family. Facing a future where she is likely to be disinherited, Mercedes takes the unconventional path of dungeon crawling to secure her family's survival. Since its debut on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2018, the franchise has expanded into a successful print series published by TO Books and a manga adaptation by Pochi Edoya, both of which saw new volumes hit shelves this week.
