Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina, a brand-new 2D fighting game from Type-Moon, has been announced for a release in early 2027. The title is slated to arrive on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
The game promises refined battle mechanics and new characters joining the roster, all set within a new story focused on conflict within a dream. Kinoko Nasu and Type-Moon are credited for the original work, with French Bread handling development and Aniplex serving as publisher. The game will feature Japanese voiceovers, supported by text localization in Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
This announcement builds upon the foundation of the 2021 title, Melty Blood: Type Lumina, which also used the Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- remake as its basis. That earlier game featured over 10 characters, including fan favorites like Shiki Tohno and Arcueid Brunestud, each with unique story modes and extensive color variations.
A spinoff manga, Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina Piece in Paradise, concluded its run on the Type-Moon Comic Ace website in December 2022. Source: Anime News Network(https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2026-05-02/melty-blood-twi-lumina-2d-fighter-game-revealed-for-release-in-early-2027/.237011)
