The television anime adaptation of Narukiβs romantic comedy manga Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun has shared a fresh look at its production, releasing a second promotional video alongside its primary cast list. The series is set to join the ANiMAZiNG!!! programming block on ABC TV and TV Asahi in April 2027, with additional broadcasts on BS11 and streaming via ABEMA.
The lead roles will be voiced by Hiroto Shimizu, known for his work in Dark Moon: Tsuki no Saidan, as Dan Ichikura, and Suzuko Hara, recognized for Barakamon, as Hiro Momose. They are joined by Yuma Tomochika, who will voice the character Ohana-chan. The production team brings together director Makoto Hoshino, series composer Megumi Shimizu, and character designer Ruriko Watanabe, with animation duties shared between Studio Flad and WAO World.
While the anime adaptation is still over a year away, the source material has been building a steady following since its 2021 debut in Bessatsu Friend. Seven Seas Entertainment currently handles the English-language release, with the eighth volume of the manga slated for an October 20 release.
Why it matters: The involvement of director Makoto Hoshino and character designer Ruriko Watanabe reunites key creative staff from Banished from the Hero's Party, suggesting a consistent visual and narrative approach for this upcoming romantic comedy. With the premiere window set for 2027, it remains to be seen how the production will balance the manga's ongoing serialization with the final animated arc.
