Aya Nishitani, the author behind the foundational Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei novels, has begun a personal project to bring his work to English-speaking readers. Following a promise made three years ago to an American fan, Nishitani is currently publishing his own English translation of the series directly to his personal Note page.

Nishitani clarified that while these drafts are not professionally polished, they serve a dual purpose: fulfilling his long-standing commitment and providing a reference for future translators to capture the nuances of his original Japanese prose. The author confirmed he is currently in negotiations with an international publisher to secure a formal, high-quality release of the novels, which served as the inspiration for the long-running Atlus video game franchise.

As of this week, the prologue and the first three chapters are available for public viewing. Nishitani intends to maintain this aggressive release schedule, with the remaining chapters—including the finale—expected to drop sequentially throughout the rest of July. Readers interested in viewing these temporary translations should access them before they are taken down at the end of the month.
