McDonald's Japan has leaned into the seasonal tradition of its Tsukimi (moon-viewing) menu with a surprisingly detailed promotional campaign. On September 9, the fast-food chain released a full opening sequence for a hypothetical anime series titled Motto! Imadaketsukimi Ttabemi!!. The video features character designs based on the chain's autumn menu items, including the protagonist Tabemi Imadaketsukimi and her rival, Mochiko Tsukimipie.

The production values mirror standard industry tropes, complete with a dedicated opening theme song and a "Sponsored by" credit screen. Despite the polish, McDonald's Japan clarified that the project is strictly a promotional stunt, stating that once the characters were satisfied with the opening, the "series" concluded its production run. The campaign, which kicked off on September 1, also included character dance videos and a mock episode preview.

This year’s Tsukimi lineup is particularly expansive, featuring nine items ranging from the classic Tsukimi Burger—which uses an egg to represent the autumn moon—to more experimental additions like the Hokkaido-grown potato pepper burger and a Shine Muscat grape McShake. While the anime opening is purely a marketing creation, it highlights the brand's ongoing strategy of integrating pop-culture aesthetics into its seasonal food releases.
