Tatsunoko Production is set to launch Matsuken Anime Kore Seibaishite mo Ii desu ka? on August 29. The short-form series reimagines the musical legacy of actor Ken Matsudaira, transforming his flamboyant, golden-kimono-clad stage persona into a modern animated character. The project will be available to viewers via YouTube.
The narrative follows the protagonist, Matsuken, and his canine companion, Matsu Inu, as they tackle the mundane frustrations and anxieties of contemporary life. The production committee, which includes Hakuhodo Products and Kayac Akiba Studio, intends for the series to serve as a beacon of positivity, focusing on lighthearted stories where good triumphs over the daily stressors faced by modern society.
The voice cast features Ken Matsudaira himself as the lead, while veteran voice actress Sumire Uesaka provides the voice for the sidekick, Matsu Inu. Additionally, Daisuke Namikawa has been tapped to voice the various supporting characters encountered throughout the series. This production expands the reach of the "Matsuken Samba" brand, which originated in 1992 and achieved widespread cultural status following the 1994 release of "Matsuken Samba II."
