Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the upcoming 4v4 tag-team fighter from PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games, made a splash at San Diego Comic-Con with the reveal of its first DLC character. Phoenix Cyclops is set to join the roster this fall, with voice actor Ray Chase—known for his performance in X-Men '97—returning to voice the character.

Alongside the character reveal, the team debuted the game’s opening cinematic. The sequence was helmed by director Daisuke Suzuki at Studio Sanzigen, known for their distinct 3D animation style. The video is set to the original track "Stronger as One," featuring vocals from Keiko Terada and mayu, with lyrics by Kanata Okajima and composition by MEG.

Players eager to jump into the action won't have to wait long, as the title is scheduled for a August 6 release on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. An open beta period is currently underway, running through July 26. Those who opt for the Ultimate Edition will gain access to the Year One pass, which includes four characters and an additional stage, alongside various cosmetic unlocks for the initial 20-character roster.

Beyond the competitive multiplayer, the game will feature an Episode Mode presented in a motion-comic format. To ensure narrative depth, the developers have brought on a renowned writer from the original Marvel Comics catalog to craft the world-building and story for this single-player experience.
