The roster for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is expanding. A new gameplay trailer released by the development team confirms that Phoenix Cyclops will join the 4v4 tag team fighter on November 2. The character serves as the first addition to the game's "Year 1 Character & Stage Pass," bringing a new combatant to the title just months after its August launch.

Fans of the recent X-Men '97 animated series will recognize the voice behind the character, as Ray Chase is confirmed to reprise his role for this DLC appearance. The update follows the game's initial release on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, which debuted with a 20-character roster including icons like Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Doctor Doom.

Beyond the competitive tag-team mechanics, the game features an Episode Mode presented in a motion comic format, developed with input from Marvel Comics writers. The title's production also features high-profile animation talent, with the opening movie directed by Daisuke Suzuki at SANZIGEN and a theme song performed by Keiko Terada and mayu. With the Year One pass promising three additional characters and a new stage, it remains to be seen which heroes or villains will round out the remainder of the first-year roadmap.
