The upcoming anime adaptation of Marronnier Oukoku no Shichinin no Kishi (The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom) has unveiled its core cast and first promotional video. The series is scheduled to debut on NHK E-Tele on October 3 at 6:25 p.m., bringing Nao Iwamoto’s long-running historical comedy to the screen.
Directing the project at J.C.Staff is Kiyoko Sayama, who previously helmed the second season of To Your Eternity. The production team includes series composer Shinzou Fujita and character designer Yuriko Maeda, with sound direction by industry veteran Jin Aketagawa and a score by Yoshiaki Fujisawa. The newly released trailer provides a first look at the animation style and introduces the seven knights central to the story.
Voice talent for the ensemble cast includes Kengo Takanashi as Nemukunai, Makoto Tanikawa as Hakuai, Haruki Ishiya as Atsugariya, Satoshi Inomata as Samugariya, Kiyoto Mizuno as Kemonotsukai, Taishi Murata as Kenjiman, and Reiji Kawashima as Harapeko. Akeno Watanabe joins the cast as Baribara, while Show Hayami is set to provide the series' narration.
Iwamoto began the series in Monthly Flowers in 2016, and the manga has since expanded to 11 collected volumes, with the latest release hitting shelves this past June. The anime adaptation arrives as the source material continues to maintain a steady following for its blend of historical atmosphere and character-driven humor.
