Studio MAPPA revealed during its 15th Anniversary Lineup Reveal livestream that it is producing an anime adaptation of Naoki Fujita's Beat & Motion manga. The series is slated for a 2027 debut exclusively on Netflix.

The production announcement included a teaser visual and the first trailer, offering a glimpse into the upcoming show. The anime's staff has been detailed, with Yuki Komada directing. Misaki Morie is on board for series composition and scripts, while Kazunori Aoki and Mina Ōsawa serve as character designer/chief animation director and chief animation director, respectively. The production team also includes numerous other key roles, with dugout handling sound production.

Shūichirō Umeda has been cast as the protagonist Tatsuhiko, and Aya Gomazuru will voice Nico. The manga, which won the MILLION TAG reality show in August 2021, follows Tatsuhiko, a young animator whose viral video catches the attention of his favorite musician, Nico. Their collaboration on a music video leads to a surprising reunion tied to a past event.

Beat & Motion began serialization on Shonen Jump+ in February 2023 and concluded with its sixth volume in March 2025. Viz Media and MANGA Plus are releasing the manga in English, with Viz Media describing its premise as centering on a fateful night that connects the two main characters.
