Animation studio MAPPA and game developer HoYoverse have co-produced a new "animation concept trailer" for the hit game Honkai: Star Rail. Titled "Death in the Afternoon," the trailer premiered during a recent livestream for the game.
The project boasts notable talent, with Yuzuru Tachikawa, director of Mob Psycho 100 and Death Parade, at the helm. Kayoko Ishikawa, known for her character design work on Sarazanmai, handled character design for the trailer. The trailer concludes with text indicating "MAPPA Honkai: Star Rail Animation A New Story Awaits."
HoYoverse staff introduced the video as a "mysterious collaboration project." While the trailer and accompanying press release offer no further details on potential future anime productions based on the game, they promise continuing cosmic adventures for players.
