MAO, the anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's supernatural manga, will feature a new opening theme for its second cour performed by the boy group 20th Century. The song, titled "Bokura ga Uwagaki suru Sekai" (The World We Overwrite), marks a reunion of sorts, as former V6 members Masayuki Sakamoto, Hiroshi Nagano, and Yoshihiko Inohara previously sang the opening for the InuYasha anime 26 years ago.
To celebrate this connection, a creditless opening video from the InuYasha anime has been released for a limited time. The second cour of MAO is set to premiere on July 4, beginning with episode 14. The series, animated by Sunrise, is designed to run for two continuous cours without breaks.
The anime initially launched on April 4 on NHK-General in Japan. International viewers can find MAO streaming on Hulu in the U.S., and on Disney+ in Canada, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand.
The manga, published in English by Viz, follows Nanoka as she's pulled into a supernatural early 20th century and teams up with the exorcist MAO to uncover a mysterious connection between them and battle demons. Takahashi, renowned for works like Urusei Yatsura and Ranma 1/2, launched the MAO manga in 2019.
