The dark fantasy series The Record of a Fallen Vampire (Vampire Juujikai) is officially making the jump to television. Pony Canyon launched the production website this week, confirming a 2027 premiere window alongside a teaser visual and promotional video. The project will be helmed by director and series composer MANQ, with character designs by jimao and a score composed by Evan Call, known for his work on Sousou no Frieren.

The adaptation has tapped Yuuma Uchida to voice the vampire king Akabara Strauss, while Aino Shimada will portray Bridget Irving Frostheart. The animation duties are being split between studios Zero-G and Liber, marking a significant production effort for the long-running dark fantasy title.

Originally serialized in Monthly Shounen Gangan from 2003 to 2007, the source material spans nine volumes and was previously published in English by Viz Media. The story follows the vampire king's desperate quest to locate and release his queen from a long-standing seal, a mission that puts him at odds with both humans and dhampirs who fear the destruction their reunion might bring.

With a 2027 release date, the production has a lengthy window for development. It remains to be seen how the studios will balance the series' dense lore across the upcoming season, but the involvement of composer Evan Call suggests a strong focus on the show's atmospheric world-building.
