NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan has pulled back the curtain on a television anime adaptation for Toratsugumi: Tsugumi Project. The announcement arrived alongside a teaser visual and a promotional video, offering a first glimpse into the series' grim, post-apocalyptic setting.
The narrative follows Leon, a man wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death, who is coerced into a high-stakes mission within a quarantined, radiation-soaked wasteland that was once Japan. Within this lethal territory, he must navigate encounters with mutated, colossal beasts and a mysterious young girl who holds the key to his survival.
Originally written and illustrated by Ippatu, the manga debuted in France in 2019 before beginning its Japanese serialization in Weekly Young Magazine in 2021. The series reached its conclusion in September 2023, with the final seventh volume published shortly thereafter. Kodansha USA currently holds the English licensing rights for the title.
