Manga Mavericks Books announced Monday that it has licensed Taiyo Matsumoto's manga Brothers of Japan (Nihon no Kyoudai). The publisher plans a physical and digital release for the collection in February 2027.

Matsumoto, known for works like Ping Pong, Sunny, and Tekkonkinkreet, originally debuted Brothers of Japan in 1995. Magazine House published the manga, with an updated edition released in 2010. Manga Mavericks' upcoming release will be based on this latter version.

The titular short story follows two brothers who embark on a journey to dig a hole reaching the opposite side of the globe. The anthology also collects other stories from the acclaimed artist.

In a statement, Matsumoto expressed happiness that English speakers will now have access to the work, noting it contains both youthful immaturity and the unique, tender expressions characteristic of young artists. He shared fondness for the collection despite its perceived flaws.
