Manga Mavericks Books made a splash at San Diego Comic-Con this week, announcing the acquisition of Rin Kawano’s drama series Our Insignificant Justice (Toru ni Taranai Bokura no Seigi). The title, which explores the interconnected lives of six individuals following the sudden disappearance of a popular singer, is slated for a dual digital and print release in March 2027. The physical edition will feature an A5 format.
Beyond new acquisitions, the company shared updates on its current lineup, confirming that the fifth chapter of the Divine Messengers and Demonic Guardians manga by Koukoku Brothers will be available digitally on August 25. A print edition for this series is currently in development for a future date.
The most significant development from the panel is the formation of the Independent Manga Alliance. This new industry association, spearheaded by Manga Mavericks CEO Varun Gupta and Mahjong Pros executive Harrison Doan, is designed to provide marketing, sales, and distribution infrastructure for independent creators and smaller publishing houses.
The alliance launches with a diverse roster of founding members, including Strict Algorithm LLC, Red String Manga, and Curation Entertainment Partners Inc. By bridging the gap between independent creators and international distributors, the initiative provides a structured path for niche titles to reach readers.
