Manga Mavericks Books has confirmed that Sen, the creator behind the atmospheric fantasy manga Horon of the Closed Country, will be a featured guest at this year's Anime NYC. The convention, held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, will host the author for a dedicated panel on August 21 at 3:30 p.m. EDT, alongside scheduled autograph sessions for attendees.
Horon of the Closed Country follows a group of three individuals, each mourning a significant personal loss, as they investigate a forest deity that demands human sacrifice to protect its borders from outsiders. The narrative centers on a young diviner—the only class capable of repelling the deity—who must navigate a stolen past to uncover the dark connection between the deity's hunger and the disappearances plaguing their land.
The series concludes at four volumes and is currently being localized by Manga Mavericks in a premium A5 format. While digital versions are currently available, the publisher is slated to release the first print volume this coming winter. Anime NYC 2026 will run from August 20 through August 23.
