The storytelling-focused drama Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku (Flower and Asura) is coming to an end. Illustrator Musshu confirmed via social media that the series will wrap up its run in the August issue of Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine, marking the conclusion of a story that began in June 2021.
Penned by Ayano Takeda—best known for the acclaimed Hibike! Euphonium—the manga follows Hana Haruyama, a young girl from Tonaki Island whose natural talent for narration is discovered by the president of her high school's broadcasting club. The series explores the pressures of competition and the pursuit of excellence in the NHK Broadcasting Competition, themes that resonated well enough to earn the title a 7.1 rating from over 12,000 users on MyAnimeList.
Following its success in print, the series received a 12-episode television adaptation by Studio Bind that aired during the Winter 2025 season. Featuring production support from industry heavyweights like King Records and Nippon Television Network, the anime was distributed internationally through HIDIVE. With the source material now reaching its final volume, the complete arc of Hana’s journey from a small-island storyteller to a competitive performer is set to be finalized.
