Bandai Namco Filmworks has officially confirmed that Kamisama Gakkou no Ochikobore (The Failure at God School) is being adapted into a television anime. The announcement arrived alongside a teaser visual, marking the latest expansion for the franchise, which began as a shoujo manga series in the pages of Hana to Yume in 2021.

The series, written by Natsu Hyuuga with art by Modomu Akagawara, follows Nagi, a high school student navigating a world where supernatural powers are government-regulated. Following the death of her grandmother, Nagi must find a new deity for her family shrine, a task complicated by her brother’s status as a shut-in with miraculous abilities. The manga has seen significant commercial success, with over 1.7 million copies currently in circulation.

Beyond the manga, the property has already branched into a light novel series, which Hyuuga and Akagawara launched in 2022. While the anime production is now underway, details regarding the animation studio, staff, and release window remain unconfirmed. With the manga currently being localized by Yen Press, the anime serves as a major milestone for the series' growing international profile.
