Manga artist Kumichi Yoshizuki has announced a temporary pause on their current series, Nankai Trough Kyodai Jishin (Nankai Trough Megathrust Earthquake), due to ongoing health concerns. In a statement posted to X (formerly Twitter), Yoshizuki indicated the break would likely last around two months, following consultation with medical professionals.

The artist detailed several health issues contributing to the hiatus, including a recent cervical disc herniation, suspected depression, and problems with their autonomic nervous system. These conditions reportedly cause pain and nausea when sitting for extended periods and disrupt sleep patterns.

Nankai Trough Kyodai Jishin, co-written by biki, began serialization on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket in July 2024. The manga offers a grounded portrayal of the anticipated Nankai Trough megathrust earthquake, drawing on extensive interviews. The fifth compiled volume was released in April.

Yoshizuki is also known for their work on the Aa Shūkatsu no Megami-sama spinoff manga, which concluded in 2021, and the Someday's Dreamers manga, previously published in North America by Tokyopop. Someday's Dreamers previously received anime adaptations.
