The run of Chōgen Market Heroes: Menko Reverser Kakeru is coming to an end. Shogakukan’s Coro Coro Comic web portal has published the final chapter of the series in advance, with a public release scheduled for August 22. The series, a collaboration between writer Makoto Fukami and artist Shūsaku Namikawa, premiered on the platform earlier this year on March 28.
Based on the board game by Creatures, the story follows Kakeru Ginga, a former child prodigy in the hobby game "Ultra Menko." Ten years after his prime, Kakeru finds himself in a mundane job while still harboring dreams of heroism. His life takes a turn when he encounters a genius named Dengaru, reigniting his competitive spirit and his ambition to join the ranks of corporate heroes who defend the world from existential threats.
Makoto Fukami is a prolific industry veteran, widely recognized for his work on high-profile projects such as Psycho-Pass, Heavenly Delusion, and the recent Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc. While he is no stranger to long-form projects like the 14-volume Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka, this latest title serves as a concise adaptation. The first compiled volume of the series reached shelves on June 26, shortly before the project's conclusion.
