The revival of the classic magical girl franchise, Mahou no Princess Minky Momo: Akogare no Yume e - Magokoro no Duo, has revealed two new additions to its voice cast. Youko Hikasa, known for her work in Shunkashuutou Daikousha, will voice Peter, while Tomohito Takatsuka of Kageki Shojo!! fame steps into the role of Rubert. This latest project is slated for a theatrical opening on November 13.
Production duties are being handled by Ashi Productions, the studio behind the original 1982 television series. The creative team features director Ayumu Watanabe, who previously helmed Summertime Render, working from a script penned by Deko Akao. Character designs are being managed by Hiroshi Watanabe and Mari Tominaga, with a musical score composed by Tomoki Hasegawa.
This OVA serves as the latest entry in a storied franchise that spans over four decades. Following the original 63-episode run in the early 80s and a second series in 1991, the property has seen several OVA releases, including Minky Momo in Yume ni Kakeru Hashi and Minky Momo in Tabidachi no Eki. With Zack Promotion producing, this new installment looks to bridge the gap for long-time fans of the mahou shoujo staple.
