During a presentation at Anime NYC, Mahjong Pros Publishing revealed its latest acquisition: Snap Call Kirinji by creator Nagahisa Tsukawaki. The imprint, a division of the mahjong equipment company, plans to roll out both digital and physical editions of the series starting in January 2027.
The manga follows Rinji, a man struggling to find his footing after a divorce and years of isolation as a shut-in. While he is widely regarded as an elite online mahjong player, his life shifts when he gains custody of his daughter following his ex-wifeβs illness. Desperate to provide for her, Rinji pivots to the cutthroat world of professional, real-world mahjong parlors.
Unlike the controlled environment of online play, Tokyoβs physical mahjong scene forces Rinji to contend with seasoned hustlers, eccentric veterans, and dangerous rivals. The story centers on his attempt to translate his digital prowess into a viable career, balancing his past failures with the newfound responsibility of fatherhood.
