Aniplex has unveiled the third full trailer for Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgisnacht: Rising-, the official sequel to the 2013 film Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion. The trailer introduces two new magical girls to the cast: Shichōka, voiced by Shion Wakayama, and Selma Therese, voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa.
The newly released trailer also provided updates on additional staff members, both new and returning. Junichirō Taniguchi and Hiroki Yamamura will serve as chief animation directors, with Tomohiro Furukawa joining as a new visual concept designer. The film is directed by Yukihiro Miyamoto, who also helmed the original TV series and Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story. The core creative team behind the original franchise, including original creators Magica Quartet, scriptwriter Gen Urobuchi, character designer Ume Aoki, and composer Yuki Kajiura, are all returning, with animation once again handled by studio SHAFT.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgisnacht: Rising- is slated to premiere on August 28. The film has faced several delays since its initial hint in 2015, with its most recent postponement from February 2026 attributed to production circumstances. The original Puella Magi Madoka Magica television anime premiered in 2011, followed by compilation films and the Rebellion sequel. The franchise has since expanded with the Magia Record anime series and mobile games, though the latter's global service has concluded.
