In a surprise collaboration, the Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Monogatari Series franchises have launched a 12-episode short project titled Mahō Dōjo Yotsugi☆Peace. The project serves as a promotional tie-in for the upcoming film Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgisnacht: Rising, which is set to hit theaters on August 28.
The shorts feature a script penned by Monogatari creator NisiOisin, bringing his signature dialogue style to the magical girl genre. The narrative stars Saori Hayami reprising her role as Yotsugi Ononoki alongside Yuka Iguchi as Tsukihi Araragi. The first three episodes are currently live on the Aniplex YouTube channel, with the remaining installments scheduled to drop in batches through August 23.
Production duties for the shorts were handled by studio Ijige TOKYO, under the direction of Toshikata Shinoda with production by Yūki “youkiss” Ōkubo. The visual identity of the project, including character designs and the specific 'Mahō Shōjo' costumes for Tsukihi, was developed by Akiya Lemonsour, with art direction provided by Shū Horiuchi of .MP.
