The upcoming second season of the live-action adaptation of Love is Better the Second Time Around (Koi o Suru Nara Nidome ga Jōtō) has confirmed the return of two key supporting cast members. Aloha Takamatsu and Junya Shiraishi are set to reprise their roles as Yūto Shiriashi and Kyōsuke Sugimoto, respectively. These additions join series leads Makoto Hasegawa, who returns as Akihiro Miyata, and Robin Furuya, coming back as Takashi Iwanaga.
This new installment shifts the narrative forward by two years, focusing on the domestic life of Akihiro and Takashi. According to the original manga creator Keiko Kinoshita, this season will feature an original story arc that follows the couple's life after the events of the first season. A fresh poster visual has been released to commemorate the production, highlighting the returning core quartet.
Behind the scenes, Yuka Yasukawa and Nao Nomura are returning to the director’s chair, joined by newcomer Shinju Funabiki, who is also handling the screenplay duties. The production team also features composer Erina Koyama and LGBTQ advisor Mamino Kawamoto to ensure the series' thematic integrity.
The series is scheduled to debut on September 1 as part of the Dramaism programming block, airing across MBS, TBS, CBC, RKB, and HBC. The original source material, a boys-love manga by Kinoshita, concluded its three-volume run in 2023, setting the stage for this expanded live-action continuation.
