Distributor GKIDS has announced plans to bring the live-action adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's Look Back one-shot to North American audiences. Following a limited theatrical debut on December 30, the film will see a wider release across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Ireland on January 15. Directed and edited by Hirokazu Kore-eda, the film explores the creative partnership between two aspiring manga artists, Fujino and Kyōmoto, played by Natsuki Deguchi and Aju Makita, respectively. The production includes a rotoscoped animation sequence directed by Yōko Kuno, with music composed by Yūta Bandō and guitar contributions from Kenshi Yonezu. This live-action project follows the 2024 anime film adaptation of the same source material, which GKIDS previously brought to North American theaters in October 2024.
