Strange -Junji Ito's Strange Stories for Sleepless Nights-, a new live-action omnibus series adapting 13 tales from the master of horror manga, has unveiled its full cast. The series is set to debut on TV Tokyo's "Drama 24" block on July 3 at 24:12 (effectively July 4 at 12:12 a.m.), with a subsequent broadcast on BS TV Tokyo on July 12.

The ensemble cast features Nijirō Murakami as Koseki in "The Mansion of Phantom Pain," Kanata Hosoda as Ryusuke Fukuda in the three-part "Lovesickness," and Yōko Maki as Kuriko in "The Bully." Other notable cast members include Wan Marui, Manato Sakamoto, Yoshizumi Ishihara, Rairu Sugita, Riho Nakamura, Hina Higuchi, Nanami Yamazaki, Nagisa Saitō, Jun Saitō, and Yuri Tsunematsu, taking on roles across stories like "Earthbound," "A Father's Love," "Tomio: Red Turtleneck," "Memory," "In Old Records," "Face Thief," "The Rib Woman," "Further Tales of Oshikiri," and "Lingering Farewell."

Atsuhiro Yamada, Yūta Shimotsu, and Ryōta Kondō are directing the series, with scripts overseen by Daisuke Hosaka and contributions from Tatsurō Inamoto. The title itself is a nod to the original name of Asahi Shimbun's Nemuki+ magazine, where many of Ito's works first appeared. The opening theme, titled "Jigsaw," is performed by the South Korean group IVE.

This live-action adaptation follows recent Junji Ito anime projects, including Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, which premiered globally on Netflix in January 2024, and the Uzumaki anime mini-series that debuted in September 2024. The original Junji Ito Collection anime aired in 2018, adapting stories from various Ito collections.Source: Comic Natalie(https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2026-05-27/live-action-junji-ito-omnibus-series-announces-cast/.237880)
