The production team behind the High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku live-action film has bolstered its roster with seven additional cast members. Joining the previously announced leads are Yoshihiko Inohara as Tatsuya Aoyama, Onoe Matsuya as Tsuyoshi Kawatō, Shingo Yanagisawa as the Principal, and Naoto Takenaka as Tomohiro Kiryu. Rounding out the new additions are Sei Matobu as Maki Yashiki, Yumi Adachi as Hanae Yumiki, and Munenori Nagano as Takumi Chinen.
These actors join a primary cast that features Jun Saitō as the protagonist Kōtarō, Shingo Katori as his father Ichiro, Riisa Naka as his mother Shizuka, and Yuno Nagao as his younger sister Haruka. The film is helmed by director Tôichirô Rutô, known for his work on Violence Action, with a script penned by Makoto Ueda of Europe Kikaku, whose portfolio includes acclaimed projects like The Tatami Galaxy.
Originally slated for a fall 2026 debut, the film is now set to hit Japanese theaters on January 8, 2027. The project adapts the unique comedy manga by Ryō Nakama, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2020 to 2023. The story centers on Kōtarō, whose high school aspirations are hilariously derailed when his entire family decides to enroll in the same school alongside him.
