The live-action adaptation of High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku has bolstered its ensemble, confirming 12 additional cast members to join the production. The new additions include Masaya Kimura as Seitarō Naruse, Miyu Honda as Kotone Akai, and Yūka Kageyama as Arisa Yumiki, alongside Ryōtarō Sakaguchi, Rintarō Mizusawa, Kōdai Fujimoto, Ryūshin Ozawa, Sōma Santoki, naenano, Yuzu Ashikawa, and Rin Ōmasa.
These actors join the previously announced core family unit, which features Shingo Katori as the father Ichiro, Riisa Naka as the mother Shizuka, Jun Saitō as the protagonist Kōtarō, and Yuno Nagao as the younger sister Haruka. The film is helmed by director Tôichirô Rutô, recognized for his work on Violence Action, with a script penned by Makoto Ueda of Europe Kikaku, whose portfolio includes acclaimed projects like The Tatami Galaxy.
Originally slated for a fall 2026 debut, the film will now arrive in Japanese theaters on January 8, 2026. The story adapts Ryō Nakama’s unique comedy series, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2020 to 2023, centering on the chaotic premise of an entire family enrolling in the same high school simultaneously.
