DMM TV has confirmed that the second season of the live-action Happy Kanako's Killer Life (Shiawase Kanako no Koroshiya Seikatsu) will arrive on its platform on September 17. The announcement was accompanied by a fresh key visual highlighting the return of the series' central duo, Kanako and Sakurai.
Non and Taisuke Fujigaya are set to reprise their roles as the unlikely contract-killing pair. Behind the camera, Tsutomu Hanabusa, known for his work on the live-action Tokyo Revengers films, returns to direct the upcoming season. Hanabusa is also leading the writing team, collaborating with Ruriko Matsushima and Yūsuke Aose to pen the scripts for the new episodes.
The series, which adapts Toshiya Wakabayashi’s unique four-panel web manga, follows the chaotic professional life of Kanako, a woman who discovers an unexpected talent for assassination after landing a job at a hitman agency. The first season, which premiered in February 2025, established the series' signature blend of dark comedy and action, a tone that the production team promises to maintain for this follow-up.
While the live-action series continues to expand its reach on DMM TV, the source material remains a staple of the industry. The original manga, which has reached nine volumes in Japan, is available in English via Seven Seas Entertainment. Wakabayashi is also widely recognized for his previous work, the omnibus romance series Tsuredure Children, which previously received a well-regarded anime adaptation in 2017.
