The production team for the live-action adaptation of Yamayade’s Can You Kiss Me First? has expanded its roster, announcing eight new cast members. Joining the ensemble are Yoshiki Kanemaru as Tōma Fujisawa, Tsubasa Kizu as Yūsuke Kobayashi, Riko Kawase as Akira Mizoguchi, and Kōya Matsuda as Kōtarō Shirai. The supporting cast is rounded out by Jun Yamasaki, Kakeru Amemiya, Sōshō Tomimoto, and Aika Sonoda.
These actors support the central duo of Jin Suzuki, who plays the rigid accountant Ueno, and Gaku Oshida, who portrays the charismatic sales leader Kanda. The narrative centers on the tension between these two workplace opposites, whose long-standing friendship is tested after Ueno discloses his sexuality, leading to a series of unspoken romantic complications.
Meigetsu Takahashi is directing the adaptation, working from a screenplay by Emi Amamoto, while Nobuhiro Tateno and Ami Yamashita provide the series' score. The project is currently scheduled for a fall debut on Fuji TV, with simultaneous streaming planned for the Fuji TV On Demand platform.
The original manga, which concluded its run on Renta! in April 2024, is being brought to English-speaking readers by Seven Seas Entertainment. The publisher's initial volume is set to hit shelves this September, providing a foundation for the series ahead of its television premiere.
