The live-action film adaptation of Blue Lock has added another cast member and unveiled a new trailer. Mei Hata will portray Anri Teieri in the upcoming movie, which is set to open in Japan on August 7. The newly released trailer offers another glimpse at the soccer-themed drama.
Previously announced cast members include Fumiya Takahashi as protagonist Yoichi Isagi, Kaito Sakurai as Meguru Bachira, and Kōhei Higuchi as Zantetsu Tsurugi. Idol group &TEAM's K is also on board to play Seishiro Nagi, with Keito Tsuna as Reo Mikage. Veteran actor Masataka Kubota is set to embody the enigmatic Jinpachi Ego.
Yūsuke Taki is directing the film, with Tetsuo Kamata penning the screenplay. CREDEUS, known for the live-action Golden Kamuy film, is handling production, and TOHO is distributing. The original manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura, which follows a group of elite high school strikers competing to become Japan's top forward, has been a major hit, spawning multiple anime seasons and a spinoff film.
