The upcoming live-action film adaptation of Blue Lock has unveiled its complete cast and a striking new key visual showcasing 20 actors. The film is slated for release on August 7.
Among the newly announced cast members are Keisuke Higashi as Team X's Shōei Barō and Ryōta Miura, who will portray the Wanima twins, Junichi and Keisuke. Previously confirmed actors include Fumiya Takahashi as Yoichi Isagi, Kaito Sakurai as Meguru Bachira, and Kyōhei Takahashi as Hyoma Chigiri. Masataka Kubota is set to play the enigmatic Jinpachi Ego, while Kōhei Higuchi will embody Zantetsu Tsurugi. Idol group &TEAM's K is also joining the cast as the talented Seishiro Nagi.
The film is directed by Yūsuke Taki with a screenplay by Tetsuo Kamata, and is produced by CREDEUS. TOHO will handle distribution. The original manga, created by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura, debuted in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2018 and has since spawned two anime seasons and a spinoff film.
Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing the manga digitally and in print. The story follows Japan's quest for an absolute Ace Striker after a disappointing World Cup, gathering 300 of the nation's brightest young talents for an intense competition. The manga won Best Shōnen Manga at Kodansha's 45th annual Manga Awards in 2021.
