Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu has surged back to the top of the Japanese box office, claiming the #1 spot in its third weekend. The film, which adapts the popular "Siren Arc" from Nagano's manga, brought in an additional 1.69 billion yen over the weekend. With a cumulative total now exceeding 6.77 billion yen (approximately US$42.50 million), the production—directed by Kei Oikawa at Cygames Pictures—continues to be a massive success for distributor TOHO.
Elsewhere in the charts, the 33rd entry in the long-running Crayon Shin-chan franchise, titled Kikikaikai! Ora no Yōkai Bake-shon, slipped from #3 to #6 during its second weekend. The film, which follows the Nohara family’s supernatural adventure in Akita, has grossed over 1.17 billion yen since its July 31 opening. The project features direction by Masaki Watanabe and stars Sairi Itō as the yōkai character Yako.
Meanwhile, the live-action adaptation of the historical epic Kingdom, specifically the fifth installment Tamashii no Kessen, continues its theatrical run at #7. The film has earned nearly 5 billion yen since its July 17 premiere. As the latest entry in a series that has consistently dominated Japanese summer box offices since 2019, this fifth chapter maintains the franchise's strong momentum, though it has begun to slide as it enters its fourth week in theaters.
