The live-action film adaptation of Blue Lock has expanded its cast with five new additions, focusing on characters integral to protagonist Yoichi Isagi's journey. The latest announcements reveal the actors portraying Isagi's parents, his coach, and key figures within the Japan Football Union.
Shihō Harumi will play Hirotoshi Buratsuta, the chairman of the Japan Football Union. Sōma Santoki has been cast as Tomonari Tada, one of Isagi's teammates. Yūsuke Hirayama steps into the role of Isshin Tomobe, Isagi's coach. Rounding out the new cast are Tōru Nomaguchi and Maho Nonami, who will portray Issei and Iyo Isagi, Yoichi's father and mother, respectively.
These new cast members join a roster that includes Fumiya Takahashi as Yoichi Isagi, Kaito Sakurai as Meguru Bachira, and Masataka Kubota as Jinpachi Ego. The film, directed by Yūsuke Taki with a screenplay by Tetsuo Kamata, is produced by CREDEUS and distributed by TOHO. The live-action Blue Lock film is set to premiere on August 7.
The original manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura, which won Best Shōnen Manga at the 2021 Kodansha Manga Awards, has already spawned a successful two-season anime series. The anime is currently preparing for a third season adapting the "New Hero Wars" arc, and a spinoff film, BLUELOCK -Episode Nagi-, achieved significant box office success earlier this year.
