Kaiji: Life Revenge Game is set to bring the high-stakes tension of Nobuyuki Fukumoto’s legendary gambling manga back to the big screen. TOHO Movies has released the first full trailer and teaser for the production, confirming that Tatsuya Fujiwara will return to lead the project as the desperate protagonist, Kaiji Itou.

The newly revealed cast list also features Kazuya Kamenashi as Kazuya Hyōdō, alongside Mahiro Takasugi as the Teiai Corporation employee Keita Mashimo and Sara Minami as Taeko Yūki. Rounding out the supporting cast is Susumu Terajima, who steps into the role of Kōzō Nonomura. The film marks a reunion for director Tōya Satō, who returns to helm the project, with composer Yūgo Kanno providing the score and Masatoshi Yamaguchi drafting the screenplay.

While the live-action franchise has seen three previous Japanese iterations and a Chinese adaptation, this upcoming installment arrives during a period of uncertainty for the source material. The original Kaiji manga, which began serialization in 1996, has been on an extended hiatus since June 2023. Although Fukumoto announced in 2024 that the story is entering its final arc, fans are still waiting for the serialization to resume in Weekly Young Magazine.

Despite the manga's current production stall, the franchise remains a pillar of the seinen genre, having spawned two television anime seasons and various spin-offs. The new film is scheduled to hit theaters on January 29, 2027.
