Destiny Unchain Online: How I Became the Crimson Devil is making the jump from the page to the screen. An official social media account for the series launched this Friday, confirming that a television anime adaptation is currently in production. To celebrate the news, illustrator Yachimoto shared a commemorative piece of art featuring the protagonist.
The series, written by resn, first appeared on the web-novel platform Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2020 before moving to Kakuyomu. Kodansha picked up the title for print publication in 2022, and the series has since grown to include a manga adaptation, also illustrated by Yachimoto, which currently spans 13 volumes. English-speaking readers can catch up with the manga through the K Manga digital service.
The story follows Kou Mitsuki, a top-tier gamer who secures a spot in the closed beta of the new VRMMO, Destiny Unchain Online. Developed by his own father, the game quickly turns into a surreal experience when a mysterious glitch forces Kou to play as a young vampire girl. Now trapped in a virtual world with a completely new identity, he must navigate the high-stakes fantasy landscape with an eclectic group of allies.
