During the Level 5 Vision 2026 II Dream livestream, developer Level 5 introduced its latest project, Holy Horror Mansion. The game follows protagonist Ten Lordland, who discovers a mysterious camera that allows him to interact with spirits after a ghost emerges from his own nose. Players will utilize this camera to capture ghosts and leverage their unique abilities to combat the antagonistic De Ville Corp and their monstrous creations.
The game distinguishes itself with mechanics based on the movements of real-life performers. These include a green ghost inspired by WARPs UP member SANTA, a blue ghost modeled after comedian Pikotarō, and a pink ghost based on the dance troupe avantgardey. Level 5 has positioned this title as its most ambitious cross-media project to date, framing it as a new conceptual evolution for the long-running Yōkai Watch franchise.
While Holy Horror Mansion is slated for a 2027 release, the company also confirmed that the franchise is expanding its back catalog with Yōkai Watch 2: Haunted Domain, an updated version of the classic 3DS title coming to Switch, PS5, and PC. Given the studio's history of simultaneous game, manga, and anime rollouts, it remains to be seen how extensive the cross-media support for this new mansion-themed project will be beyond the initial game launch.
