The upcoming short anime adaptation of Sakura Kurihara's yuri manga, Let Me Fix You (Kimi o Tsumugu), has been significantly delayed following serious grooming allegations leveled against Federico Antonio Russo, known as FAR, co-founder and co-producer of the animation studio Buta Productions. An X (formerly Twitter) user, Maryco, accused FAR of grooming her since she was 14, posting details and alleged chat transcripts.
The anime's production staff learned of the accusations just hours before issuing a statement on Sunday, expressing their wish to distance themselves from FAR's alleged behavior. They stated that no one involved in the anime's production was aware of the situation and that discussions are underway regarding the project's future without Buta Productions and FAR. The original manga creator, Sakura Kurihara, confirmed the delay on Monday and expressed gratitude that the team wished to continue production rather than cancel it.
Dokico, the German publisher initially announcing the collaboration, confirmed that Buta Productions and FAR are no longer involved. Dokico will now oversee the project's planning and communication between all parties. While an update on the anime's continuation is pending, Dokico plans to announce a decision once all involved parties have conferred. Buta Productions, however, stated to ANN that the anime remains in production with FAR's involvement minimized, and that the company itself will cease operations. FAR's legal team is reportedly analyzing the situation with the intent to sue the accuser, calling the allegations "partial, misleading and malicious."
Let Me Fix You was originally slated for a late May YouTube release with FAR listed as animation producer. Buta Productions has previously contributed to various anime, including work on One Piece, Bocchi the Rock!, and Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray.
