The upcoming television anime adaptation of Kyoufu Collector has officially entered the spotlight with the release of its first teaser promotional video, a key visual, and a full cast list. The series is slated to begin its broadcast on October 10 at 11:45 p.m. via NHK-G, bringing the long-running horror franchise to the small screen.

Leading the voice cast is Hiiro Ishibashi as Fushigi Senno, joined by Jun Fukuyama as Jimmy, Saori Hayami as Himitsu, and Nobuhiko Okamoto as the Blue Umbrella Man. Behind the scenes, Yuki Inaba is handling both directorial duties and series composition at Studio Palette, with character designs provided by Kaori Yoshikawa. The production is rounded out by sound director Tetsuya Gunji and composer Masato Kouda, while singer-songwriter Shikao Suga provides both the opening and ending themes, with the former, "Kageboushi," featured in the new teaser.

Originating from the Kadokawa Tsubasa Bunko label, the source novels have maintained a steady presence since 2015, reaching 28 volumes and over one million copies in circulation. While the series has already seen a manga adaptation, this anime marks the first time the supernatural mystery will be animated for television. With the source material already available to English-speaking readers through Yen Press, the anime arrives with an established, if niche, international footprint.

Why it matters: The involvement of NHK Enterprises as a producer, combined with a late-night time slot, suggests a production that leans into the series' established horror roots rather than a strictly younger-skewing demographic. With the premiere date locked, the primary question remains whether the series will adapt the novels chronologically or focus on specific arcs from the extensive 28-volume run.
