The anime movie Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Bouhi no Hihou (The Secret Treasure of the Deceased Consort) is set to debut in Japanese theaters on December 11. A teaser trailer and visual released Friday also introduced the film's production staff and an additional cast member.
Mariya Ise, known for her role in The Promised Neverland, will voice Mu Qing in the film. The production is helmed by director Norihiro Naganuma, who previously directed The Ancient Magus' Bride. The script comes from Yuuko Kakihara (A Sign of Affection), with character design and chief animation direction by Yukiko Nakatani. The art direction is led by Masakazu Miyake, with art boards from Takumi Tanji and TJ. The music composition is a collaborative effort from Satoru Kousaki (Bakemonogatari), Kevin Penkin (The Rising of the Shield Hero), and Alisa Okehazama (Jujutsu Kaisen).
TOHO animation STUDIO is producing the film. The original light novel series by Touko Shino began serialization in October 2011, with its manga adaptation by Nekokurage starting in May 2017. The anime television series, which aired 24 episodes across its first two seasons, was streamed internationally by Crunchyroll.
