The production team behind The Apothecary Diaries has expanded the roster for its upcoming feature film, The Secret Treasure of the Deceased Consort. Six new cast members were announced this week, accompanied by two character-focused trailers highlighting the Bi clan and the Kajadan group. The film is currently slated for a December 11 theatrical release in Japan.

The newly announced cast members include Nobuo Tobita as Birou, Kumiko Watanabe as Shuu-u, and Hirofumi Nojima as Bisen. They are joined by Kensho Ono as Suija, Ryouta Takeuchi as Eishou, and Jirou Saitou as Kaja. These additions round out a production led by director Norihiro Naganuma, with scripts penned by Yuuko Kakihara and character designs by Yukiko Nakatani.

This film follows the successful run of the television anime, which spanned two 24-episode seasons that aired between Fall 2023 and Winter 2025. While the series has enjoyed a robust international presence through Crunchyroll, the franchise remains deeply rooted in its source material; Natsu Hyuuga’s original light novel series has reached 16 volumes, and the story has inspired two separate ongoing manga adaptations.

With the film's release date approaching, the focus now shifts to how this original story will integrate with the established narrative arcs of the television seasons. Given the high-profile trio of composers—Satoru Kousaki, Kevin Penkin, and Alisa Okehazama—the production appears to be aiming for a significant expansion of the series' audio-visual identity.
